One Prayer

Healing Place Church was one of 1,800 churches that was a part of the One Prayer series that Lifechurch.tv headed up this past June. One Prayer was one of the biggest wins for the Kingdom I’ve ever been a part of and I am excited that Craig Groeschel and Bobby Gruenewald and the rest of the One Prayer team have announced One Prayer 2009! We are really looking forward to being a part of it again this year and cannot wait to see how God uses this throughout the world!

So I have these GRAND ideas GOD! Do you wanna hear them? Jeremiah 29:11 has nothing on these…

Well, I am going to tell you anyway…. so I was thinking this and some of that and mostly a lot of the other…. yeah, nice, I know, I spent a lot of time coming up with that one. Really I have poured more into these plans than you have really “desired, asked or quickened me to probably”…BUT TRUST ME IT’S WORTH IT, they are GOOOD…. enough about you though, back TO ME….

So I have also thought a whole lot about “when” all this should progress. I know, your welcome… I really wanted to take that LOAD off of YOU. Really I think of everything so you don’t have to really do that whole God-thing for me…. I knowwwww….. how nice of me again… So I was hoping this all would fit into this nice little box that I have made especially for MY LIFE and then you could just do that whole stamp of approval thing and Voile!

We are done, or I am… or whatever, you get my point… My life is A OKAY and well on it’s way to becoming all that I have thought and imagined it needed to be. You follow, I know… I go quick… but really try to keep up, I have a lot on my agenda or should I say, “our agenda”….

So what do you think?

Hello…. are you there? I just can’t stay quiet enough to hear you speak… you there?

What do you mean Proverbs 3:5…. is that some part you want to add to my plan… my neat little box?

What do you mean? I have to give it ALL to you? Are you sure> I mean I could just do a little tailoring… trimming fat here and there right? Not the whole darn bit! I mean, I spent so much energy and time on this… can we negotiate really?

“Lean not on your own understanding but in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your path straight (clear, apparent)….”

This must mean what giving you my life looks like in action….

Help me release me into your Hand.I am hopelessly overconfident in my own plans, self… what have you…

Taking Your Craft With You

In Pursuit of Proverbs 31....

My craft of choice is scrapbooking and while I do have a handy dandy room and awesome space to keep my supplies in, I am still drawn to watching TV while creating my personal masterpieces. I mean who really wants to be away from the TV when we are eagerly awaiting the "Sorry but you are not the biggest loser" to be said to Vicki and Heba (oh, don't get me started)? Or how about the fact that the miniature killer is back on CSI? Let's not forget that the new season of Top Chef started and golly gee but this is the absolute first time I have not picked the winner from the interviews. They sent my girl home. Can you believe I was wrong? Anyway, the problem is that I don't have a TV in said scrap space so my friend Kelli gave me a solution during the Heart of the Matter Online Conference.

She told us all about her favorite TV addictions and how she scraps while she is watching them. What she does is get page elements and papers together with the appropriate photos and then adds her most used tools to the tray and she just packs it up and takes it with her. This TV tray is the perfect fit for that. It has an edge so it keeps all of my materials on the tray and is easy to clean. I also like that it can lay flat or the legs can be pulled out so that it rests comfortably over my lap. It is very handy! This could easily work for other crafts as well.

What do you think?

In Pursuit of Proverbs 31 Bible Study Part 8 - On Resourcefulness

In Pursuit of Proverbs 31....

This week was a true challenge and test for my family concerning this particular part of the bible study. Two of my boys celebrated their birthday this weekend and in true God style I was tested concerning the finances and means to carry out our plans. In the end it was a great weekend and God blessed my resourceful endeavors. I hope this lesson will be a blessing for you too!

In Pursuit of Proverbs 31 Bible Study Part 8 - On Resourcefulness

1. Being resourceful begins with knowing the true source.
The definition of being resourceful is able to meet situations or capable of devising ways and means. The common thread throughout this study is the focus on the Father and seeking His will for our life. Praying for God to meet all of your needs early in the morning is a great place to start. Reading His word and meditating on it will provide us with a great resource within our very own spirit. This enables us to know more quickly how we should handle or react to certain situations.

For example: If an opportunity presents itself for you to provide a meal for a widow in need then you already know what 1 Titus 5:3 states about the matter and we can quickly oblige. Our resource for this quick answer is the word of God.

Ruth is a book that is full of God exhibiting to us ways to be resourceful. For this lesson, I encourage you to read the entire chapter.

Prayer:
Spend a few moments in prayer with the Father and ask Him to bless this time of study. Truly seek Him for new revelation.

This weekend as I planned a party for my boys I was well aware that our finances were sparse. We came up with a solution that satisfied them and didn't exceed the amount of money we had available. Coupons, time of day we went to the movies, and offerings from family were all a part of making it a success. We simply had to find out what was available and what the best route was to accomplish it.

By attending the movie during the day we were able to save $14.50 on the cost of tickets. We used a coupon for the gifts from Toys R Us and saved even more because the toys were on sale. My sister offered to give me some money to take my nephew for the whole weekend so that she and her husband could get their tile floors down without the interruption of little feet. We used this money to go towards the cake and pizza we had (which were purchased with more coupons). We ended up spending under our budget and had a fun, full weekend to boot! The boys loved it!

By being resourceful I was able to do all I needed to do and not go broke or spend weeks afterwards being stressed out. If the cake had not been made of organic ingredients, been on sale, and had I not had a coupon then it may have been cheaper to make one but in this case I came out better purchasing it. I have run into similar instances with bread. Sometimes I can get bread on sale for 3 for $1. In those instances I stock up and freeze some. I cannot make bread for less than $.34. The resourcefulness here was in knowing when to do it yourself and when to purchase it.

Read Exodus 2. Take notes and underline passages that speak to your heart.

2. You can be resourceful by finding alternate ways of saving money.
There are many methods available to help you save money for the things you purchase most often. I will dive deeper into each of these methods on the site at a later date but I wanted to give you an overall view of the possibilities and resources that are available. Please take not that with these resources there is always lots left over to donate to charity. That is definitely being resourceful!

Here is a video about saving money shopping at CVS from Kingdom First Mom:

Here is a video about how to play the "grocery game" and save money while shopping.

Here is a video of how to prepare meals beforehand to save time and money later.

3. Being resourceful is about more than money.
Although finding ways money is one of the best ways to be resourceful it is by no standard the only means. Using what you have available is something that should be at the top of your list. For example, I recently needed to have a date with my hubby. We had already gone a couple months without going on a date and I didn't want to go any longer so we made arrangements with some friends to swap sitting hours so we could each go on dates with our spouse. It worked out great! The same can be said of clothing swaps, and even home decor swaps. My sister, my grandma and I are constantly trade out furniture and decor just to spice up our homes and make things look new and refreshing. We never give anything to anyone else first without consulting with the other and this has worked out wonderful for us. A new room doesn't even cost a thing. You can also borrow from other rooms in your home to create a whole new look.

These are all methods I will dive into much deeper here on the blog! I look forward to it!

Next week we will discuss Proverbs 31 and ministry.

Focused Thoughts:
  1. Being resourceful begins with knowing the true source.
  2. You can be resourceful by finding alternate ways of saving money.
  3. Being resourceful is about more than money.
Scripture for Memory:

Proverbs 6:6-8

"Go to the ant, o sluggard, observe her ways and be wise, which, having no chief, officer or ruler, prepares her food in the summer, and gathers her provision in the harvest."

Write It Down (or post it):
Be sure to record your revelation and thoughts in your bible, notebook, or let us all share in what you are learning and write a post about it and link it here! Share with us what God has revealed to you when were seeking Him.

For Study Purposes:
  • In what ways have you been resourceful? How can you improve?
  • Do you have a friend who is very resourceful? Sit down with her, ask questions, and learn from her.
  • Find one scripture related to resourcefulness and write it down. Post it on your refrigerator as a reminder.

Time for another Servolution Idea from my soon-to-be-released book, Servolution.

Idea #4

Provide Free Auto Maintenance.

Widows, single mothers and military wives are women who don’t need the burden of vehicle maintenance. Take a day to work on their cars. It has been such a blessing to the ladies of our church and community when we offer free, basic car care (changing the oil, fixing windshield wipers, and changing out filters, for example). For an added bonus, go the second mile and offer free refreshments and pampering (manicures, pedicures and massages) to the ladies while they wait. It’s a great way to just go over the top and show God’s love in a practical way.
